THE NEW SHAPE OF A&R
Music Row veterans JEFF TEAGUE and TOM LONG have formed a new company, ARTIST & REPERTOIRE, LLC.

ARTIST & REPERTOIRE provides outsourced A&R for the entertainment industry at large including: Artists, Labels, Management and Publishing Companies. This work encompasses the traditional areas of artist & career development, production and music publishing as well as forays into television and live events to assist in breaking, branding and elevating artists and their music. DARYL BURGESS is the flagship writer signed to one of the A&R publishing divisions, Rich N Rare Music (ASCAP).

After working together on many projects over the course of many years for the companies, organizations and individuals they have represented, JEFF TEAGUE and TOM LONG have come together under one roof and one name. Their new company, ARTIST & REPERTOIRE, LLC  was formed to fill a niche by providing outsourced A&R work. The A&R process is a key element that helps drive success in the music industry at large. The level and longevity of this success touches every piece of the entertainment puzzle including artists, song writers, music publishers, producers, touring and recording talent, managers, agents and the organizations that represent and support these activities.

ARTIST & REPERTOIRE is focused on assisting Major Labels to be more productive and Independent Labels to be more competitive. Their approach to A&R is designed to preserve time, man power and financial resources. This A&R work applies to preparing or developing new artists and repurposing existing artists to continue to compete in today's country music market. TEAGUE and LONG also want to help management companies screen potential signings as well as providing "core imaging" so that the artists are built from the inside out to attract the eyes and ears of the labels and booking agencies. Added to these other functions is the ability to aid music publishing companies in converting potent song writers to become viable recording artists if that potential is truly there. These A&R skills and connections are also available to individual artists who want to capture the attention in the industry circles that ARTIST & REPERTOIRE was created to serve.

Sweeping changes in the music business, particularly in the areas of radio, retail and distribution, have led to consolidation within the record industry. This consolidation in turn has placed an extra measure of responsibility on those in charge of developing and maintaining a growing stable of solid artists at a time when staff and resources are at a premium. TEAGUE and LONG are confident that they can draw on their mutual experience and relationships to balance the scales of change by providing outsourced A&R. To facilitate their work, TEAGUE and LONG have compiled a working list of quality personnel to provide all the tools necessary for artists to launch and sustain competitive careers; including photography, video production, graphic design, public relations, vocal and media coaching, image consultation and fitness.

To quote JEFF TEAGUE, "Balancing corporate responsibilities and market share with the instincts and personal attention required to identify and develop artists and products that have a definable, sustainable demographic is the challenge for effective A&R. Promoting and expanding Music is a job for everyone who is involved in the process on every level."
